beef patty

I was in a hurry yesterday so I decided to buy a beef patty. For those of you unfamiliar with beef patties, they are a Caribbean-themed food that consists of a pastry colored an unnatural yellow and filled with what appears to be a pureed meat paste. I put in action the same mental trick I use when eating a my favorite hot dog and reminded myself that I don't consume this kind of thing that often and therefore it will have no effect on me.

I didn't pay much attention to the group of police officers that loitered outside the door of the pizza establishment from which I chose make my purchase. However, once I got inside I realized that an investigation was in progress regarding a guy who'd just been really rude and flashed a knife around at the customers and staff.

What I find notable about this is that business continued to be conducted without pause during the entire questioning session. People came in and out, ordered their food, paid, and then left - all while cuffs were being fitted, cashiers queried, and facts verified. For reasons I can't entirely explain, I found this all very enjoyable.
